Southern Paws Animal Rescue is a foster based dog rescue. We rescue all breeds. Our goal is to save abandoned and thrown away dogs of the south. We are a very passionate, group of people, about any and all of our rescues.

Our policy is to spay or neuter all of our Dogs and Cats that we rescue, no matter the age. We have them Vet checked. We do all the worming, the flea and tick treatment and prevention, and have our Dogs and Cats up to date on all their shots and vaccinations.

We not only have time invested in our rescue Dogs and Cats, but we have also invested our hearts in them. Sometimes we have them for short periods of time and sometimes we have the for a longer period of time. We have seen them in some of the worst times, to their happier times of their lives. We care not only for their needs, but we also go above and beyond to make sure they have a happy, and safe life when we have them.

Part of our rescue is not just rescuing. We strive to help our community in our surrounding parish and county with spay and neuter education. In the near future we will have our own intake Spay and Neuter Clinic. The south is overflowing with abandoned cats and dogs that have never been altered. They breed and have babies. If they make it to a breeding age, then they breed, and the cycle is never ending.

Our rescue is lucky to have some northern rescues. Our friends from up north help us with adoption. We bring the cats and dogs we help into our rescue. Once they are examined by our Veterinary and any care that is needed has been done, these precious babies are placed in our foster homes. Our fosters are some of the most loving and compassionate animal lovers you will ever know. We provide loving and a safe environment for our rescues until our northern rescues find them their forever homes. Our fur babies are transported up north to individual rescues. Some take all breeds, and some take specific breeds. We are in the process of trying to adopt out to our local communities.

Rescues cannot do any of this own their own. We all rely on volunteers and donations. We have fundraisers several times of the year. We have $5 Fridays, through our Facebook. We also have a local company that make T-shirts with our logo on them to sale and also a local photographer that takes family photo sessions in the fall and donates some of her fees to our rescue. We have people in our community that donate food and supplies. Certain people donate funding for us and all they want in return is for us to help the community with our overpopulation of cats and dogs. We are blessed and very thankful for any and all they help we receive.
